FEES & ADMIN
Lessons are $116/month.
Siblings: $100
Single Parent: $100
Adult and group lessons are $60/hr.If you’re new and want to register for lessons, please download and complete the Registration Form.
All lessons must be prepaid. I’ll email an invoice when we decide on a time and I’ll have you write a cheque for each month this term.
I teach on the stat holidays and Pro D days – you can call or email to arrange an earlier time on those if you want.
CANCELLATION and MAKE-UP LESSONS
It’s going to happen! Something will come up, a game or practice, open house at school, a concert or Canucks game. You’ll have to miss your lesson.
Because my schedule is completely full with a wait list of up and coming musicians, I can’t accommodate make up lessons. Similar to swimming lessons or soccer practice, the time cannot be rescheduled to fit one person’s change of schedule.
I’m sorry if this causes inconvenience but I’ve implemented a system where you can access the schedule page and contact another parent to see if they’re willing to trade with you.
I’ve password protected the schedule page – I’ll provide you with the username and password. The schedule is there along with everyone’s email – this way you can switch with another student by clicking on the time or times you’d like and requesting a swap with another parent. I started this Dec. 2006 and it’s been working very well. Don’t feel you have to know the person you’re emailing – we’ll all neighbors in the big picture. Just make sure to let me know that you’ve made the switch.
Occasionally, it may be necessary for me to cancel a lesson in order to travel to a playing engagement. Lessons that I cancel will be made up. Because I’m booked solid, the make-up may have to wait until a holiday period – Christmas or spring break.
NEW TO GuitarMarty?
When you sign up for lessons, you’ll get an invoice for the whole season or what’s left of it. You can write post dated cheques as indicated on the invoice or you can pay for it all at once.
When your kid comes to the lesson you’ll see a clock by the door. Please come in at exactly your time, not earlier. Just walk in – don’t knock – I’m expecting you. I ask this because I’m usually wrapping up the lesson and summing up the “big thought” making sure the student had got the new idea before they go and when the doors opens, there’s an immediate disconnect. That being said, parents are welcome to come and go as they please and I encourage you to sit in once in a while to see how we do it. Try not to bring a sibling (especially a younger one) as that can be distracting as well. When picking up your kid, I like it if you either just park in the drive way and wait for her to come out or poke your head in and say hi. Please don’t bring the family along – it just gets too crowded and we waste time on the change-over.
Feel free to park in the driveway – and in the extra spot. Let me know if you’d like WiFi and I’ll give you the password.
